Reflection Session of the TAF Africa Legislative Internship Programme supported by EU-SDGN II

On Friday, August 1st, TAF Africa, supported by the EU-SDGN II programme, hosted PWD Legislative Interns who have been interning at the Nigerian National Assembly for the last three months. The interns (Barrister Festus Ikechukwu Okpeh, Barrister Rex Erameh, Eunice Nwokocha, Shamsiyyah Umar, Honorable Aduku Emmanuel, Alhassan Hussaini, Aver Akighir, Ogundare B. Omowunmi, Angelina, Ugben, ) were deployed to House Committees on Disabilities and Poverty Alleviation, Budget and National Planning, Humanitarian Services and Development, Health Social Development, Education, Transporation, Works and Housing, Communication and Technology, Labour and Employment, and Justice. The session provided an overview on the experiences of the legislative interns and included a debriefing session which gave the interns an opportunity to present their own reflections that focused on the Key Successes, Challenges encountered, Lessons learned, and Recommendations on the program. Reflection Meeting on Findings of the Political Inclusion Index

Yesterday, July 16th 2025, with funding from European Union in Nigeria through it’s European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria programme, we hosted a Reflection Session on the Findings of the Political Inclusion Index; a rapid assessment of the compliance of election stakeholders with the Electoral Act and other relevant provisions guaranteeing the inclusion of persons with disabilities in Nigeria’s political and electoral processes. We shared the findings with key political actors, and promoted discussions on strengthening inclusive political participation moving forward. Political Inclusion Index Report September 2024 This assessment aimed to evaluate the level of disability inclusivity within key institutions involved in Nigeria’s electoral process, focusing on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political parties, media, and security agencies.
