Inclusive Governance

The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all

John F. Kennedy

A major priority of TAFAfrica is the inclusion of persons with disabilities in governance and the electoral process. Over the years, TAFAfrica has led major interventions toward improving the participation of persons with disabilities, by advocating for their inclusion at the political party levels, and their involvement in the electoral process. TAFAfrica continues to work to increase the accessibility of polling stations for persons with disabilities, the provision of assistive tools and materials on election day and reduce voter apathy through a series of voter education campaigns. While some achievements have been achieved, especially within the legal framework for elections, challenges still exist in giving effect to the provisions of the law. TAFAfrica, therefore, continues to advocate for the enabling of the rights of persons with disabilities to participate fully and equitably in governance and the electoral process.
Look out for our new agenda.
